Mrs.
Alicia C. Ramsey, born Alicia Beidleman, is a native of Elyria Ohio.
She is the oldest sibling of four and the only daughter of Gary and
Beverly Beidleman. She graduated from Elyria West High School and
attended the University of Akron. In 1993, she received her
Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education. Mrs. Ramsey
continued her educational endeavors and received her Masters Degree in
Educational Leadership from Indiana University. In 1995, she met and
married her husband, Pastor John F. Ramsey, Sr., and moved to
Indianapolis to begin an extensive career in public education.
Mrs.
Ramsey spent 15 years working in Perry Township Schools. She was
Principal of Clinton Young Elementary School and Perry Meridian 6th
Grade Academy. Prior to this position, she was an Assistant
Principal, Dean at Southport Middle School and a teacher at Perry
Meridian Middle School. In 2002, Mrs. Ramsey became the first
African-American female to be elected to the Pike Township school board.
In June of 2009, Mrs. Ramsey decided to make a life change for her
family. She resigned from her position as Principal of Clinton
Young Elementary School to allow time to expand her family and assist
her husband in ministry full-time.
First
Lady Ramsey has now combined her professional experience in education
with her spiritual calling. Mrs. Ramsey is a consultant with the
Rhema Childcare Ministry & Pre-School, leader of the Women’s of
Excellence Ministry, and planner for ministry services and events.
In
2006, she birthed a women’s ministry entitled “New Life Women of
Excellence”. This ministry was designed to empower women to
cultivate positive relationships as they enrich their mind, body, and
soul through the word of God. In 2010, their annual February lock-in
event, planned and led by First Lady Ramsey, had over 2,000 women in
attendance.
First
Lady Ramsey is a featured motivational speaker, education panelist and a
strong advocate for families of special needs children. In 2001, their
youngest son Jeremiah David was born with Agenesis of the Corpus
Callosum and is in the Autism Spectrum. Recently, God placed on her and
Pastor’s hearts to create a ministry at New Life entitled “Guardian Angels”
so that parents of children with special needs could attend worship
while their child receives quality care in the Childrens’
Ministry. She and her husband have a passion to advocate for
special needs families and often speak for organizations that support
this common cause. She currently serves on the board of directors for
the National Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Callosum.
In
her free time she enjoys traveling, reading and spending quality time
with her husband, and their two sons, John, Jr. and Jeremiah David and
their new baby girl Judah Maree.
